The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has announced the successful implementation of the operational plan for the municipal services system during the 1446H Hajj season. This success is attributed to the dedicated efforts of the field teams from the Ministry, the Holy Capital Municipality, supporting municipalities, and all participating government agencies, which contributed to providing best services to the pilgrims in Makkah and the holy sites.

The Ministry confirmed that all its plans and programs were executed successfully, with the Holy Capital Municipality efficiently completing its fieldwork. The services included cleaning operations, environmental sanitation, inspection of commercial and food establishments, road network readiness, lighting works, and maintenance of municipal facilities—all aimed at ensuring the comfort of the pilgrims and enabling them to perform their rituals with ease and reassurance.

The Ministry reported that approximately 428,000 tons of waste were collected during the Hajj season. Additionally, environmental sanitation was carried out at 7,524 different locations in Makkah and the holy sites, utilizing 1,355 liters of concentrated liquids and 384 kilograms of pesticides.

It also noted that around 34,000 inspection visits were conducted on commercial, food, and health-related activities, in addition to 4,848 field rounds carried out by the municipal service centers of the Holy Capital Municipality in the holy sites. A total of 2,159 reports were addressed, marking a 40% improvement compared to the same period last year.

In the area of food service oversight, specialized teams from the Holy Capital Municipality conducted 3,453 inspection tours of 384 kitchens and catering companies with high operational capabilities, capable of preparing over 15 million meals, to ensure proper procedures and adherence to the highest health standards.

Moreover, over 2,800 pieces of equipment and machinery were deployed for cleaning and environmental sanitation, along with over 87,000 waste containers, 1,235 compacting bins, and five main and mobile laboratories capable of analyzing up to 1,300 samples daily.

Preparations also included operating 28 municipal service centers within the holy sites, 95 emergency teams for rapid response, and 177 shelter halls with a capacity to accommodate more than 15,000 pilgrims.

It is worth noting that the municipal and housing services system mobilized more than 22,000 personnel, including employees, engineers, inspectors, and trained laborers, to deliver various municipal services during the Hajj season.
