Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, today inaugurated the International Facilities Management Conference & Exhibition 2025, organized by the Saudi Facility Management Association (SFMA) at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center from August 24–26, 2025, under the theme “Facilities Intelligence.” The event features the participation of more than 100 government, private, and international entities, along with over 50 local and global speakers, in addition to an elite group of experts, practitioners, and decision-makers from inside and outside the Kingdom.

In his opening speech, Al-Hogail emphasized that the Kingdom is leading the journey of transformation toward the future with confident steps and an ambitious vision. He noted that this gathering represents a new milestone in the record of national achievements, serving as a dialogue platform to showcase best global practices and discuss innovative solutions for developing a sector that constitutes a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s mega-projects.

The Minister of Municipalities and Housing explained that Vision 2030 attaches great importance to urban infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability in cities, and adopting smart solutions in facility management. He pointed out that the Ministry has adopted a strategic approach focused on raising the efficiency of municipal facilities and enhancing their operational readiness, through setting mechanisms and standards to assess their performance, developing related regulations and guidelines, ensuring the sustainability of their operations, and elevating the quality of services delivered to beneficiaries.

Al-Hogail added that the Ministry is working to transition from traditional contracts to performance-based contracts, in line with modern approaches to enhancing efficiency, improving spending quality, and strengthening competitiveness. He explained that facility management is no longer limited to the concept of operation and maintenance, but has become a pivotal element in building smart cities, enhancing quality of life, and achieving environmental, economic, and social sustainability, while keeping people at the center of this transformation.

He further highlighted that the Ministry seeks to empower this sector through policies, legislation, the development of national competencies, and by supporting public-private partnerships. He stressed that “Facilities Intelligence” is a key enabler for achieving national targets in building more sustainable cities and improving quality of life, pointing out that the inclusion of six Saudi cities in the MID Smart City Index represents a significant achievement that paves the way toward the goal of having at least three Saudi cities ranked among the world’s top 100 cities by 2030.

Al-Hogail also touched on the importance of the facility management sector as one of the Kingdom’s vital industries, noting that the local market reached approximately SAR 180 billion in 2024, with expectations of an annual growth rate exceeding 7% through 2030. He emphasized that this growth is driven by Saudi Vision 2030 and the expansion of mega-projects, creating major investment opportunities for local and international companies, particularly in the fields of digital transformation, energy efficiency, and environmental sustainability.

He concluded his speech by stressing that hosting the International Facilities Management Conference & Exhibition 2025 is part of integrated efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a regional and global hub for knowledge and innovation in this vital sector. He praised the efforts of the Saudi Facility Management Association, the organizing committees, partners, and sponsors, and expressed his appreciation to the participants from inside and outside the Kingdom for their significant presence.
