The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Ministry of Sports signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance their strategic partnership, during their participation in the "Cityscape Global" exhibition, which will be hosted by the capital, Riyadh, from November 17 to 20, 2025.

The memorandum of understanding aims to contribute to the development of the urban environment and enhance the quality of life in Saudi cities through innovative sports projects and initiatives, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 objectives programs. This cooperation reflects the commitment of the two ministries to enhance integration between government agencies by enabling community sports and stimulating sports investment.

This partnership between the two ministries will also contribute to creating an attractive investment environment in the sports sector, enhancing the urban landscape in Saudi cities by developing high-quality public spaces and open parks, and designing them to suit the needs of sports and community activities, in addition to enhancing the role of the private sector in developing and managing sports facilities within public parks, as well as providing new investment opportunities to create specialized sports spaces, thus consolidating the concept of quality of life in various regions of the Kingdom.

Areas of cooperation include developing the areas surrounding sports stadiums and improving access to sports activities, coinciding with the Kingdom’s preparations to host a number of major tournaments such as the Asian Cup and the World Cup, which will enhance its position as a global sports and tourism destination.

The partnership resulted in a number of tangible outcomes, most notably the signing of 39 investment contracts for the development and operation of public parks, 392 temporary investment contracts for the establishment of sports activities within parks, and 41 investment contracts for the establishment of sports events on municipal lands, in addition to the modernization of more than 100 public parks within the Sports Neighborhoods Initiative, which adopts modern engineering standards for sports facilities.

As part of their ongoing collaboration, the two ministries launched the " Team Saudi Challenge" last September. “It is a national fitness challenge that aims to encourage the community to engage in physical activity, and more than 30,000 participants of different ages took part, managing to burn more than 51 million calories.
