The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing signed a memorandum of understanding with Samsung C&T Saudi Arabia, as part of the activities of the “Cityscape Global 2025” exhibition, which is being hosted by the city of Riyadh during the period from November 17 to 20, with broad local and international participation in the real estate development and construction sector. The agreement comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to develop the building and construction sector, and to promote modern building technologies within the Kingdom, in line with the needs of the urban market and in support of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The memorandum aims to enhance cooperation between the two parties in advanced construction technologies, primarily through a feasibility study for establishing a specialized factory for modern construction technologies within the Kingdom. This includes a focus on transferring and localizing Samsung's lightweight steel structure technology and facilitating its adoption locally. The memorandum also includes provisions for facilitating collaboration with contractors, engineering firms, and real estate developers to support the growth of this vital sector.
The memorandum also stipulates studying the possibility of the ministry providing technical support for modern construction services in accordance with regulations and requirements, without any financial obligation, with the aim of enhancing the ability of international companies to contribute to the development of the construction system within Saudi Arabia, in addition to exchanging experiences and transferring knowledge in innovative construction methods and technologies.
The memorandum also focuses on cooperation to meet the growing demand for modular (prefabricated) building technologies, as solutions capable of raising the quality of construction and accelerating the pace of implementation, thus contributing to supporting the development of the construction sector and meeting growing urban needs.
The signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s efforts to enable advanced building technologies, attract global expertise, and develop the construction system in a way that achieves efficiency and quality and keeps pace with the urban transformations taking place in the Kingdom.
