The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is participating in the third Gulf Municipal Week, which is being hosted by the State of Kuwait from November 23 to 27, within the framework of joint municipal work for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, which aims to promote urban development, raise the quality of services and improve the efficiency of urban planning systems in Gulf cities.
The Kingdom’s participating delegation is headed by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing for Urban Planning and Lands, Engineer Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Ghamlas, who stressed that the Municipal Week represents an important opportunity to exchange experiences and enhance Gulf integration in the areas of municipal development and urban sustainability, in addition to reviewing the most prominent municipal projects, reflecting the efforts made by the municipal system in developing the sector.
Al-Ghamlas pointed out that the events include panel discussions and specialized workshops that discuss the most prominent urban challenges in the GCC countries, and review practices that contribute to the development of urban infrastructure and the improvement of the quality of life.
He pointed out that during this session, the Kingdom is presenting a set of successful experiences and a number of guiding manuals, including: a guide to involving stakeholders in preparing legislation and municipal requirements, a guide to requirements for providing tobacco products, and a guide to design guidelines for Gulf architecture.
It is worth mentioning that during the third Gulf Municipal Week, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is offering a number of specialized workshops that address topics such as developing municipal legislation, regulatory requirements, and tools for improving Gulf urban design, thereby enhancing its role in supporting Gulf municipal work and developing its practices at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
