During 2025, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing continued to strengthen its efforts in developing the urban landscape and public spaces, with municipal sector programs contributing to the creation of 294 new parks and the implementation of 252 interventions.Urban development in the Kingdom’s cities, within a strategic path aimed at raising the quality of life, enhancing the human dimension of cities, and achieving urban sustainability, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The ministry explained that these efforts also included the rehabilitation of 132 existing parks, which contributed to improving the urban environment, increasing the per capita share of green spaces, raising the efficiency of public facilities, and enhancing the attractiveness of cities to residents and visitors.
Within the framework of urban planning, three local plans and a regional plan were adopted, which supports guiding urban growth according to clear regulatory frameworks, promotes optimal use of land, and raises the efficiency of long-term urban planning for cities.
On the side of projects and public health, more than 100 random waste dumps were closed, which contributed to improving the urban landscape and reducing negative environmental impacts, in addition to the establishment of 17 afforestation offices in the Ministry’s headquarters and secretariats, in support of the objectives of increasing vegetation cover and promoting urban sustainability.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing affirmed that these achievements are an extension of its strategic direction in building more efficient and sustainable cities, achieving integration between urban development and municipal services, enhancing the quality of life, and supporting the comprehensive urban transformation process, in line with national development aspirations and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
