The cleaning and environmental sanitation work carried out by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Holy Capital Municipality, during the Hajj season of 1447 AH, recorded the removal of more than 16,000 tons of waste and refuse in the holy sites, with a daily average exceeding 200 tons, within a broad operational system aimed at preserving the healthy environment during the days of Hajj.

The ministry explained that the cleaning system relied on more than 88,000 cleaning units distributed within the holy sites, supported by 123 waste compactors, 45,000 containers, and 1,235 compactor boxes, in addition to more than 3,000 pieces of equipment and machinery that participated in the operational and field work during the season.

More than 22,000 human resources, including workers, supervisors and employees, participated in carrying out the work, in addition to carrying out environmental sanitation work in more than 46,000 locations within Makkah and the holy sites since the beginning of the season, including spraying, preventive treatment and sterilization work in high-density locations.

Field teams continued their rapid rehabilitation work in Mina after the pilgrims moved to Arafat, by removing debris, washing sites, and preparing corridors and courtyards to receive pilgrims after the departure, as part of ongoing operational plans during the days of the season.

The ministry confirmed that the field work was carried out through direct coordination between the cleaning and environmental sanitation teams and the field monitoring rooms, which contributed to the continuity of municipal services and increased the efficiency of addressing observations in the holy sites.
