MOMRAH issues updated schedule of municipal violations and penalties

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MOMRAH) has issued the updated schedule of municipal violations and penalties, with the aim of enhancing compliance with municipal regulations and legislation to improve the level of services. Establishments are classified according to their secretariates and municipalities taking into account the type, frequency, impact of the violation, the economic discrepancies among cities, and their size according to the classification approved by the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at). The Ministry has given commercial establishments a grace period to correct their non-serious violations before imposing the penalty.

In a press release, MOMRAH stated that the update included nine violation categories: commercial activities violations, public hygiene violations, commercial waste carrier violations, road and street violations construction violations, violations of gas stations, violations of municipal fees associated with a percentage of sales, violations of billboards and advertising, sales violations, and violations of healthcare facilities.

The decision grants the shops and establishments covered by the schedule a period of up to 120 days to correct their conditions starting from 19/11/1444 H, while a deadline of 90 days was granted to correct road and street violations and general building violations since the date of approval. The current schedule shall remain applicable until the end of the period of reconciliation of the conditions specific to each category.

The Ministry stated that the updated schedule will increase compliance, promote appropriate and fair competition among commercial establishments, reduce the manifestations of visual distortion, and enhance compliance with municipal regulations and legislation.
