Al-Hogail sponsors the graduation of 180 Ministry employees from the Higher Diploma in Urban Planning at King Saud University

His Excellency, Minister of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, sponsored today the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the Higher Diploma program in Urban Planning and Design. The program was launched by the Ministry in collaboration with King Saud University to qualify and develop national competencies among employees of the Ministry's office, municipalities, and affiliated entities.

The program aims to improve the quality of urban development projects and infrastructure in cities, and to increase the number of qualified professionals in urban planning to manage urban development according to the best standards. It also focuses on developing systems and practices related to planning and enhancing the urban landscape, with the goal of reducing and addressing visual distortions. Additionally, the program aims to enhance the skills of employees in the Ministry, municipalities, and affiliated entities by leveraging local and international expertise in development, training, and qualification, in collaboration with various local and international organizations in the field of urban planning and design.

During his speech, Al-Hogail emphasized that the program is one of the initiatives adopted by the Ministry in collaboration with King Saud University to invest in national talents and develop human capital in the Ministry's sectors optimally. He highlighted that the program contributes to raising the levels of quality and efficiency in performance and operations, and to enhancing and sustaining the services provided in the municipal and housing sectors.

He further added that the Ministry has been keen, through the program, to prepare specialized engineering and knowledge-based professionals in the field of urban planning. This is achieved through advanced scientific and international curricula and studies aimed at improving the urban landscape in all provinces of the Kingdom and implementing best practices in global cities and academies.

Furthermore, the Deputy Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Yazeed bin Abdulmalik Al Al-Sheikh, delivered a speech on behalf of the Rector, highlighting the significant impact of the wise leadership's support in enabling the University to achieve its educational and research goals. He expressed the University's pride in graduating a group of national talents from the Ministry's employees, commending their efforts and perseverance throughout their academic journey. He also emphasized that the graduates are an integral part of the national transformation and urban development in the Kingdom.

It is worth mentioning that the diploma program was launched at the end of 2022 through an agreement between the Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing and King Saud University, with the participation of King Abdulaziz University. The program involved the collaboration of international experts and lecturers from universities, institutes, and renowned global expertise institutions. Additionally, candidates enrolled in the program were sent on scientific and practical visits to specialized institutes and centers outside the Kingdom.
