Riyadh recorded a significant increase in the number of rental transactions registered within the rental index, making it the city with the highest number of documented contracts on the electronic rental services network "Ejar" for the second consecutive month, according to the index's second report for March 2022.

Riyadh topped the rental index report for residential rental contracts as the city with the most recorded rental transactions, with a percentage exceeding 31% of the total transactions, followed by Jeddah Governorate with a percentage exceeding 19%, and in third place among the cities included in the rental index came Dammam with a percentage of 6%, then Makkah with a percentage exceeding 4%, while Madinah and Khobar came close with more than 3% of residential rental contracts.

In terms of commercial lease transactions, Riyadh was first among the cities of the Kingdom with a percentage of nearly 32% of commercial lease contracts in March, followed by Jeddah Governorate with a percentage exceeding 14%, while the cities of Dammam, Medina and Makkah were close in the number of commercial lease contract transactions with a percentage exceeding 4%, and Al-Khobar last with a percentage of nearly 3%.

These deals were based on residential and commercial lease contracts concluded during March and documented in the Ejar network, distributed among the cities covered by the rental index, as the total number of residential lease deals exceeded 139,000 contracts, while the total number of commercial lease deals exceeded 46,000 contracts.

The rental index aims to achieve transparency and stimulate investment in the rental real estate sector in the Kingdom, by setting specific rental indices for cities, neighborhoods and different types of real estate, both residential and commercial.

The service enables the beneficiary to identify the residential index for average rental prices, including types of residential units (apartment, villa, and floor), or (shop, showroom, and office) in the commercial index for average prices per meter in commercial units, to reach more accurate results in search and selection processes.

These indicators are designed to enable beneficiaries to search for suitable options that meet their needs and facilitate searches within the cities and neighborhoods covered by the "Rental Index" service during periods specified by the beneficiary, using interactive maps. The service can be accessed through the "Sakani" platform via the link https://sakani.sa/reports-and-data .
