“Sustainable building” recorded growth in projects benefiting from the “Sustainability Assessment” service during 2024 compared to last year, as the number of projects reached 75 with a total area of nearly 47 million m2, thus recording an increase of 32% compared to 2023. The program explained in a press release today that 11 projects obtained the design conformity certificate, thus recording a growth of 19% compared to 2023. The projects were distributed across (Riyadh, Madinah, Jeddah, Khobar, Dhahran, Taif). In 2024, the Sustainable Building program issued over 23,000 quality inspection reports. This service enables prospective buyers or renters to verify the quality and safety of buildings and construction processes through inspections conducted by certified inspectors. This applies to both completed buildings and those under construction. The program's services can be accessed via the provided link. https://mostadam.sa/ar . “Sustainable Building” explained that during the second half of last year, the expert service was provided; this service is provided in conjunction with the Ejar platform, where an expert is requested to evaluate the rental unit before and after the rental and to assess the damages, in the event of a disagreement between the two parties on the assessment of the damages. The “Sustainability Assessment” is the first Saudi assessment system developed according to best global practices that are compatible with the Saudi Building Code. The system enables the property owner and real estate developer to measure the sustainability of new and existing buildings and communities by following environmental standards to improve energy and water consumption efficiency, and improve the quality of life by providing gardens and basic facilities, and providing safe paths for bicycles and pedestrians. It is worth mentioning that the sustainability assessment system - which has received international accreditation from the World Green Building Council and is included in the list of global sustainability systems approved by the Global Property Sustainability Index (GRESS) - is concerned with assessing the sustainability of projects at all stages of development, based on the number of points that have been met from sustainability criteria; as residential, commercial and community buildings are assessed for the design and construction or operation and maintenance phases, and projects are classified into five levels, starting from the green level and reaching the diamond level.
