His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, met today with His Excellency Stephen Hitchin, the British Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as part of the activities of the Cityscape Global 2025 exhibition held in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the paths of cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of urban development and smart cities were discussed, where the British Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the great urban transformation that the Kingdom is witnessing within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030, stressing that the Saudi experience has become a global model in balancing rapid development and sustainability.
The two sides also discussed opportunities to enhance cooperation in sustainable housing and urban intelligence through the exchange of advanced expertise and exploring technology partnerships with leading British companies. They explored ways to boost joint investments in housing and infrastructure projects, as well as the possibility of collaborating on financing green real estate development through British financial institutions.
The meeting addressed the importance of vocational training programs and technical exchange between the two countries, as well as strengthening partnerships with British universities and research centers to develop smart city technologies and urban innovation. The establishment of a joint working group was also discussed, aimed at identifying and developing future opportunities and facilitating ongoing communication between relevant authorities and developers in both countries.
This meeting comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen international partnerships that support the urban transformation process, enable the exchange of global experiences, and support innovation and investment.
