The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing signed a cooperation agreement with Net Zero Environmental Services Company, as part of the activities of the Cityscape Global 2025 exhibition, which is being hosted by the city of Riyadh during the period from November 17 to 20, with wide participation from local and international entities in the fields of urban and environmental development.

The agreement aims to enhance joint cooperation between the Ministry and Net Zero in the areas of environmental sustainability, increasing vegetation cover, and reducing carbon emissions, in order to contribute to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, and the Saudi Green and Middle East Green initiatives, in addition to supporting the goals of smart cities and natural asset management.

The agreement includes cooperation in developing and implementing smart afforestation initiatives, providing technical and advisory support in urban forestry projects, in addition to exchanging experiences and conducting joint environmental studies, and employing digital technologies in documenting and digitizing natural assets, including providing digital solutions such as smart maps and accurate afforestation data.

The agreement also includes launching environmental competitions and awards aimed at municipalities and secretariats with the goal of promoting a culture of sustainability, encouraging local authorities to adopt smart afforestation initiatives, as well as organizing workshops and awareness campaigns to promote environmental awareness and involve the community in green initiatives.

The agreement also enables Net Zero to support municipalities and secretariats with sustainable afforestation initiatives, attract partnerships with the private sector to increase the efficiency of environmental spending, in addition to preparing periodic reports on the impact of joint initiatives, their contribution to reducing emissions, and issuing carbon credits or certificates in accordance with relevant regulations.

The signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s keenness to enhance strategic partnerships with the private sector, support innovative environmental solutions, and improve the quality of life in Saudi cities through sustainable green projects that contribute to raising the attractiveness of cities and creating healthy and balanced urban environments.
