Ministry of Municipalities and Housing: More than 11 million linear meters have been completed and 74 million square meters of roads in Makkah and the holy sites have been made ready for Hajj 1447 AH.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the completion of the road and infrastructure system in Makkah and the Holy Sites as part of its operational plan for the Hajj season of 1447 AH, through a wide range of development works and field treatments that aimed to enhance the flow of traffic and raise the efficiency of transportation in high-density locations.

The ministry explained that the work carried out included the implementation of more than 11 million linear meters of roads, the treatment and development of approximately 74 million square meters of road surfaces, in addition to the paving of more than 1.2 million square meters, which enhances the readiness of the traffic network and supports the efficiency of movement in Makkah and the holy sites during the season.

She explained that the plan included raising the readiness of 123 bridges and 44 tunnels for pedestrians and vehicles, in addition to implementing improvement works for the infrastructure related to traffic routes, which contributes to enhancing traffic safety and raising the efficiency of movement in vital locations and the vicinity of the holy sites.

The ministry confirmed that these works are part of an integrated operational system aimed at raising the efficiency of municipal infrastructure, improving traffic flow, and reducing bottlenecks in areas that experience high density during the season.
