The first forum for general managers of cleanliness in the Kingdom, organized by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, concluded today in the capital, Riyadh, under the patronage of His Excellency the Deputy Minister, Mr. Ehab bin Ghazi Al-Hashani, with the participation of 17 municipalities from the Kingdom, the Spending Efficiency Authority, and the National Center for Waste Management.

The participants in the forum recommended the importance of establishing partnerships with the Ministries of Energy and Industry, represented by the Electricity Company and cement factories, to use waste as an energy source, develop plans to improve and regulate operational work in landfills, prepare legislation to obligate road contractors to use the outputs of recycling construction and demolition waste, benefit from construction and demolition waste in backfilling pits, share successful experiences from some municipalities and work to implement them in other municipalities, in addition to organizing training courses to raise the level of performance of employees in the municipalities.

It is worth mentioning that the forum aims to raise the level of cleanliness and public health, improve the quality of services in cities, enhance transparency in the municipal sector, optimize the investment in waste, organize and implement city cleanliness projects according to the highest quality standards, exchange experiences and success stories between the municipalities and strengthen relations between them, address challenges and avoid obstacles, review future plans and investment opportunities in the field of waste, and improve the cleanliness system in the cities of the Kingdom.
