Today, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, visited the Qassim region, during which he met with His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the region. During the meeting, they reviewed the development projects being implemented in the cities and governorates of the region, and discussed ways to develop municipal and housing services in order to enhance the quality of life and improve the urban landscape.
A number of municipal and development projects exceeding (2 billion riyals) in value were also launched, most notably the flood drainage projects by horizontal drilling from the Al-Naqa’ lakes and neighboring neighborhoods to Wadi Al-Rummah, and the projects to develop and improve the main roads in the city of Buraidah, such as Prince Mohammed bin Salman Road and King Abdullah Road (south), in addition to projects to develop public facilities, improve the urban landscape and enhance sustainability in municipal services.
His Excellency laid the foundation stone for a number of new projects aimed at improving infrastructure and raising operational efficiency in municipalities, and he inspected the implemented and ongoing projects on the ground, where he listened to an explanation from the Secretariat officials about the completion rates, implementation stages, challenges and proposed solutions to address them.
His Excellency Al-Haqil oversaw the signing of (13) investment agreements worth more than (168) million riyals between the Qassim Region Municipality and a number of investors in the fields of real estate development and municipal services, as part of the municipality’s efforts to enhance partnership with the private sector and raise the percentage of investment in municipal assets, which exceeded (73%) of the total assets, with a number of contracts exceeding (3,298) contracts.
His Excellency the Minister toured the accompanying exhibition organized by the Qassim Region Municipality and received a briefing on the “City View” platform, which showcases the region’s most prominent municipal and development projects. He then held a meeting with His Excellency the Mayor of Qassim Region and the municipality’s leadership to discuss performance indicators, service development plans, and ways to enhance the efficiency of operational systems.
As part of the visit program, His Excellency the Minister met with a number of citizens and investors, and listened to their opinions and suggestions regarding municipal and housing services, stressing the Ministry’s keenness to enhance direct communication with the community and facilitate procedures and services to achieve beneficiary satisfaction. The meeting witnessed the honoring of a number of supporters of the “Jood Al-Qassim” initiative in appreciation of their contributions to supporting community programs and improving the quality of life.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing praised the qualitative efforts of the Qassim Region Municipality in implementing development projects and achieving high completion rates, stressing that Qassim represents a successful model of integration between the Ministry and the Municipality in achieving sustainable urban development, stressing the Ministry’s continued support and empowerment of municipalities to implement projects and services that meet the aspirations of citizens and keep pace with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
