The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and King Saud University signed a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of scientific research, development and innovation, with the aim of supporting the research and application system, developing national capabilities and employing applied studies and research in the municipal and housing fields, in a way that contributes to raising the efficiency of institutional policies and practices.

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing was represented in signing the memorandum by the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Stimulating Housing Supply and Real Estate Development, Mr. Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al-Tawil, while King Saud University was represented by the Dean of Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al-Hadlaq, within the framework of strengthening the institutional partnership between the two sides in areas of common interest.

The memorandum aims to organize cooperation between the two parties in the fields of applied studies and scientific research, the creation and development of academic and training programs, and the exchange of experiences in topics related to the municipal and housing sector, in order to support the development of institutional policies and practices, and to raise the efficiency of relevant scientific and applied outputs.

Areas of cooperation include the development of specialized academic and training programs, including postgraduate and accredited professional programs, as well as cooperation in preparing applied studies and research, and enhancing the participation of faculty members, researchers and students in research and development projects related to the priorities of the municipal and housing sector.

The memorandum also includes cooperation in creating joint innovation labs to develop and test experimental solutions that contribute to improving municipal and housing services, supporting business incubators and specialized accelerators, and organizing initiatives and activities that promote innovation in the fields of urban planning and design, architecture and its sciences, real estate development, and municipal and housing services.

The memorandum also stipulates cooperation in training the staff of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, supporting practical and cooperative training opportunities for male and female students, and participating in organizing conferences, seminars and events of common interest.

This memorandum comes as part of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing’s efforts to strengthen its partnerships with academic institutions and to benefit from research and scientific expertise in developing policies, programs and initiatives, which will contribute to raising the efficiency of institutional work and improving the quality of services in the municipal and housing sector.
