MOMRAH launches a paid parking permit service to improve the urban environment and enhance traffic safety

The Ministry of Municipal Rural Affairs and Housing has launched a paid parking permit service. This service aims to regulate and encourage investment in the parking sector, which positively impacts the urban environment and urban fabric in the Kingdom's cities, while reducing the negative impact on traffic flow and enhancing traffic safety.

MOMRAH explained that the requirements for paid parking aim to regulate the process of constructing parking lots according to the requirements and regulations of the Saudi Building Code. It also aims to create a favorable environment for investors interested in investing in this field. Additionally, the requirements regulate the leasing of parking spaces in commercial activities, government buildings, or vacant lands. Construction or commercial permits can be obtained by visiting the following link: link.

The parking requirements are categorized into three types: parking for commercial or government facilities, independent parking (including surface parking lots or multi-story parking lots in vacant lands located on commercial streets without building permits), and automated parking facilities.

These requirements stipulate that owners of paid parking lots must provide a minimum of 20 minutes of free parking from the time the vehicle enters until it exits the parking lot. Additionally, parking spaces designated for people with disabilities should be free during their entire parking period in commercial and government facilities, subject to the Regulations of Municipal Services Fees.

MOMRAH called on those interested and wishing to invest in the field of parking to view the guideline to paid parking requirements by visiting the MOMRAH’s website via the link link.

It is worth noting that the service of issuing paid parking permits is part of efforts to improve the investment environment in municipal sectors. This is achieved through relevant legislation and incentivizing regulations, aiming to enhance the quality of life in Saudi cities and contribute to the achievement of the Vision 2030 goals.
