Gulf Municipal Works Conference in Riyadh Discusses the Latest Trends in the Sustainable Municipal Work

The Gulf Municipal Works Conference, in its twelfth session, will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from October 6-8 under the theme "Sustainable Municipal Work... Aspirations and Challenges." The conference will discuss several important files and key issues related to the development and sustainability of municipal work, aiming to enhance cooperation and joint efforts among the member states to elevate the quality of municipal services and develop urban communities in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The conference sessions will address the most prominent aspects of municipal sustainability, including studying modern trends and successful practices in sustainable urban planning and design. Additionally, it will cover the management and operation of cities according to best sustainable practices in waste management, recycling, and reliance on alternative renewable energy systems. The sessions will also discuss potential risks posed by climate change to Gulf cities and ways to confront and mitigate these risks.

The conference will explore enhancing partnerships in the municipal sector among the GCC countries and the role of community participation in achieving sustainability in the sector. It will also highlight the importance of human resource skills and their impact on achieving sustainable municipal work, along with modern models and mechanisms for developing human resources. It is noteworthy that the twelfth session of the Gulf Municipal Works Conference is organized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, under the title "Sustainable Municipal Work... Aspirations and Challenges". This aims to discuss common municipal work issues and coordinate efforts among the member states, in addition to enhancing cooperation between municipalities in the GCC and exchanging experiences and practices, contributing to the improvement of municipal services in the GCC countries.
