The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has adopted new regulatory requirements for juice shops, with the aim of raising the level of compliance, enhancing food safety, and controlling preparation, storage and serving practices in a way that ensures the quality of services and protects consumers.

The ministry explained that the requirements set the planning standards for the locations of juice shops and kiosks, and stipulated that they be within approved commercial sites and on existing commercial streets or centers, with adherence to appropriate spaces for each activity, stressing the prohibition of setting up kiosks near entrances or gathering areas unless a distance of no less than 6 meters is left, while allowing their establishment in the parking lots of complexes after the approval of the municipality.

She explained that the requirements mandate the provision of separate functional spaces within the shop, including a preparation area, a serving area, and a storage area, in order to ensure the separation of operations, raise the level of hygiene, and prevent contamination during the preparation of beverages.

The ministry added that the requirements included several preventative measures, most notably providing a clear list of products, ingredients, and potential allergens, prohibiting the serving of any beverage without accurate information about its preparation date and ingredients, and adhering to recommended refrigeration conditions. It also emphasized the prohibition of displaying or selling products that do not meet the specifications approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. .

The ministry emphasized the importance of providing informational signs that include the unified QR code for the Saudi Business Center and a price list, in addition to ensuring the continuous availability of electronic payment methods and displaying internal awareness materials that promote healthy practices. The requirements also stipulate the provision of clean, tightly sealed containers and the allocation of a separate area for waste collection away from preparation sites to guarantee a safe operating environment. .

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing confirmed its continued efforts to update municipal requirements for various commercial and service activities, as part of its work to promote public health and improve the efficiency of services in Saudi cities.
