His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, affirmed that the Ministry, through the regional secretariats, continuously offers many opportunities for partnership with the private sector in its various categories, noting that about 11,000 opportunities have been offered during the past few years, which have contributed to supporting small and medium enterprises, thus providing more space to obtain job opportunities that suit individuals.
This came during His Excellency’s participation in a dialogue session today at the Biban Forum entitled “The Importance of Entrepreneurship for Economic Development and the Growth of Promising Sectors in the Kingdom,” stressing the importance of entrepreneurs’ participation in growth and economic contribution to various sectors.
Al-Haqil pointed to the diverse opportunities offered by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing to support development under the umbrella of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, stressing at the same time that entrepreneurs and businessmen of all categories are our partners in decision-making, and we work with them through the Chambers of Commerce and the third sector. Today we have more than 11 committees within the Ministry in which they are members, and we are still continuing to strengthen this partnership.
He added: “With the aim of raising the contribution of small and medium enterprises from 20% to 35% of the GDP as one of the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, several programs and initiatives have been launched that would accelerate and facilitate the pace of work of the private sector and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and the growth of small, medium and micro enterprises, through the Ministry’s various efforts and modern business models that keep pace with business changes, provide new job opportunities that enhance the increase in the localization rate and women’s participation, and also enable the consumer to obtain his needs as quickly as possible.”
Al-Haqil stressed the ministry’s keenness to empower small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs in general by providing more opportunities, including holding the second edition of the Municipal Investment Forum “Opportunities” last January, during which more than 5,000 investment opportunities for 2023 were presented.
His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing concluded his participation by stating that, in order to facilitate the journey to the end consumer, three steps have been provided for entrepreneurs, namely: a "smart requirements guide, qualification of establishments in the private sector, and linking establishments with beneficiaries through the Baladi store" in the municipal sector. In the housing sector, and to enable many small and medium establishments, a program was created to support and empower real estate developers and a program to convert contractors into real estate developers, which contributed to providing more than 10,000 housing units, some of which were in partnership with the National Housing Company.
