Within the framework of exchanging experiences between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the General Directorate of International Cooperation, received a visiting Gulf delegation to the Al Fursan suburb project, which is being developed by the National Housing Corporation ( NHC ), in order to learn about the Saudi experience in developing integrated residential communities and its practical applications in the field of sustainable urban development.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the integrated urban planning elements of the project, and a number of facilities and services that provide an integrated residential environment, in addition to exchanging views on best practices in the design and operation of residential suburbs, and reviewing opportunities to benefit from shared experiences in developing urban communities in the GCC countries.

Al Fursan suburb is one of the largest residential projects in the Kingdom, extending over an area of approximately 35 million square meters northeast of the capital, Riyadh. It provides more than 50,000 diverse housing units that can accommodate more than 250,000 people, in addition to more than 190 vital facilities including educational, health, sports and entertainment facilities, along with extensive green spaces exceeding 6 million square meters, which contributes to enhancing the quality of life within the residential community.

The suburb is characterized by adopting sustainability and smart environment standards, as its plan includes concepts that encourage walking and cycling, reduce reliance on vehicles, and make optimal use of natural resources and renewable energy, in order to achieve a balanced and sustainable urban environment that meets the needs of the residents.

This comes as an extension of the efforts of the General Administration for International Cooperation during the past year 2025, through the implementation of a number of official tours and visits by the ministry’s leaders, which included the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, the Swiss Confederation, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of South Korea, during which a number of agreements were signed and multiple meetings were held to exchange experiences and transfer advanced models in the fields of urban planning, real estate finance, and sustainable construction, which enhances the Kingdom’s position as an active development partner regionally and internationally, within the framework of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
