The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Saudi Water Authority continue their joint efforts to address water flow and leakage cases and reduce road flooding, within an integrated regulatory framework aimed at improving the urban landscape and raising the efficiency of field response in the Kingdom's cities. .

The two entities clarified that Article (57) of the Water Law assigns the Saudi Water Authority the responsibility of controlling cases of water flow, leakage, and breaks in water and sewage networks, while the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing is responsible for monitoring cases of road flooding and water accumulations that directly affect the urban environment and public safety, thus ensuring clarity of roles and expediting treatment procedures. .

They emphasized that this integration contributes to reducing environmental and urban damage, and addressing the visual pollution resulting from water flowing outside property boundaries or from internal networks and tanks, in addition to breaks in water or sewage networks, which are among the most prominent causes of water accumulation and flooding of roads. .

The ministry and the authority clarified that water flowing outside property boundaries is classified as a form of visual pollution and a municipal violation requiring immediate attention. They pointed out that the approved regulations stipulate a fine of up to 3,000 riyals when the flow causes flooding of roads or water accumulation, obligating the responsible party to quickly remove the violation and address its causes. .

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Saudi Water Authority indicated that they are conducting continuous field inspection tours to monitor these cases and deal with them in accordance with regulations, in order to enhance compliance and raise the level of public safety and the quality of the urban environment. .

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing and the Saudi Water Authority called on members of the community to interact with the unified reporting channels via the “Baladi+” application through the “Snap and Send” service, as well as through the Saudi Water Authority website, stressing that early reporting contributes to faster treatment and reduces the exacerbation of damages, and enhances community partnership in maintaining an organized and attractive urban environment.

These efforts are part of the initiatives of the “More Beautiful Cities” Committee, which aims to regulate the urban environment and enhance integration between the competent authorities in implementing regulations, in order to support urban sustainability and improve the quality of life in the Kingdom’s cities.
