His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, launched the “Mawd” platform of the National Housing Company “NHC” today, at the Future Real Estate Forum, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud, Governor of Al-Qassim Region, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, and His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef.
The platform connects contractors and real estate developers with the manufacturer or supplier approved by the National Housing Authority, with the aim of automating the procedures for ordering materials through memoranda of cooperation signed between the manufacturer or supplier and the National Housing Authority, in the presence of a number of ministers.
The electronic platform facilitates direct linking between real estate developers and contractors with factories and suppliers of building materials and technologies for the purpose of supporting local content and localizing industries. The electronic platform's services target a diverse range of building materials provided through local service providers with the aim of increasing production efficiency. The platform provides options for purchasing building materials at competitive prices, especially for national housing projects.
The Mawad platform comes to achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in supporting and stimulating local content and localizing industries, and contributing effectively to reducing the value of housing units to increase the rate of ownership per person, by offering building and finishing materials at reduced prices through the platform and facilitating the completion of the necessary procedures, in addition to supporting factories and increasing the efficiency of production in building materials.
It is worth mentioning that the National Housing Company is the enabler of the real estate development sector and the largest major developer of suburbs and residential communities that are characterized by quality of life and aim to increase the real estate supply in the Kingdom, and provide diverse housing options, within the framework of its endeavor to achieve the objectives of the Housing Program, one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, by raising the rate of homeownership for Saudi families to 70%.
