"Individual Group Housing Program": Licensing and compliance with housing requirements ensures quality and sustainability of housing.

The National Program for the Development of Group Housing for Individuals stressed the importance of obtaining the license and ensuring its compliance with health, technical and safety conditions in achieving quality and sustainability for housing, noting that the service of issuing group housing licenses for individuals is done through the “Baladi” platform through one of the qualified engineering offices with ease and convenience.

The service allows property owners and tenants to issue permits for shared accommodation for individuals. It also contributes to ensuring that shared accommodations for individuals comply with the necessary health, technical, and safety requirements for housing, and enhances governance and cooperation between relevant authorities. The relationship to developing group housing to improve the quality of group housing services for individuals.

The program seeks to enable establishments to raise the level of services provided to workers and ensure the provision of a suitable residential environment in accordance with approved quality and safety standards, in addition to facilitating the marketing of real estate properties by property owners and providing a sufficient supply of licensed properties to raise the level of competition in the market.

A campaign was launched to raise health awareness in shared residential areas for individuals, to improve the shared residential system and increase its supply to meet demand, stressing that obtaining a shared residential license for the owner of shared residential areas for individuals supports urban development and contributes to improving the quality of life.

The group housing program for individuals, headed by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, is one of the programs aimed at ensuring the provision of a suitable housing environment for individuals, in line with their work conditions and in accordance with health and environmental standards, with the aim of developing group housing for individuals and achieving its strategic goals, raising awareness and spreading the culture of a healthy housing environment, developing licensing and control procedures, reducing population density and overcrowding in group housing inside and outside cities, governing work between the relevant authorities in developing group housing, and developing mechanisms for financing group housing projects for individuals.

The program – which is headed by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and includes the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones, the Public Health Authority “Weqaya”, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Commerce, the Economic Cities and Special Zones Authority, and the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu – achieved many accomplishments during the past year, as 3,176 properties were licensed as (collective housing) and housing was provided for 547,463 residents as the capacity of the licensed housing out of a target of 450,000 residents for the year 2021, in addition to increasing the number of private sector establishments eligible for licensing to 100 establishments out of a target of 60 establishments for the year 2021, and the capacity of the number of workers from medium, small and micro companies residing in licensed collective housing was raised to 253,000 workers out of a target of 172,000 for the year 2021.

It is worth mentioning that the program launched (22) approved initiatives to develop group housing for individuals by organizing and developing the process of housing individuals in shared units that take into account all health, security and regulatory requirements.
