His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, launched the free model contracts service, which aims to protect the rights of contractors in the engineering sector, in cooperation with the Saudi Council of Engineers, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Engineer Majid bin Hindi Al-Otaibi, and a number of officials from the Ministry and the Council of Engineers.

The service is concerned with documenting contracts between individuals and institutions with engineering service providers, through electronic forms that include technical and legal aspects. The importance of the service lies in reducing and minimizing disputes and violations, standardizing the form of contracts and their sustainability, enhancing the commitment of both parties, and raising transparency and reliability, in order to protect the rights of all parties.

The standard contract documentation service targets: (companies, engineering offices, the public and private sectors, and citizens and residents), and includes design contracts, supervision contracts, and consultancy contracts, in an effort by the Saudi Council of Engineers to develop its engineering services in the engineering sector, and to enhance the level of awareness among beneficiaries and providers of engineering services.

For its part, the Saudi Council of Engineers reviewed the mechanism of the standard contracts service by explaining the process of issuing contracts electronically and the contracting mechanism, indicating that the service can be obtained free of charge, based on its keenness to enable citizens to document their contracts with engineering service providers from companies and engineering offices in Saudi cities, related to building and construction work.
