"Wafi" licenses more than 62,000 off-plan sales and marketing units in the first half of 2022

The General Secretariat of the Off-Plan Sales and Leasing Committee “Wafi” issued 260 various licenses for off-plan sales, leasing and marketing projects during the first half of 2022, with a total of 62,374 real estate units. This is in continuation of “Wafi’s” role in regulating the off-plan sales and leasing market, raising the level of transparency in it and supporting investment, with the aim of enhancing the supply of real estate of land and residential units in accordance with the objectives of the Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 - to increase the rate of homeownership for Saudi families to 70%.

Wafi explained in a press statement today that the committee issued 141 off-plan sales and marketing licenses during the first quarter of this year, totaling 19,596 real estate units, while the committee issued 119 licenses during the second quarter, totaling 42,778 units, with a growth rate in the number of units of 118 percent compared to the first quarter of this year, in continuation of the ongoing efforts to increase the supply of real estate units in all categories.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat for Off-Plan Sales and Leasing, Naif bin Nawaf Al-Sharif, explained that the supply exceeded the targets set by “Wafi” for the first half of this year, stressing the importance of concerted efforts between all sectors related to housing to reach the goals of Vision 2030, and to ensure the provision of stability and suitable housing for Saudi families in all regions of the Kingdom.

Al-Sharif explained that the off-plan sales and leasing system is one of the most important regulatory pillars in the Saudi real estate market. He also stressed that “Wafi” is committed to all its duties and responsibilities towards the real estate market in terms of regulation and qualification, providing opportunities and creating an investment environment in accordance with clear and specific regulations that guarantee the legal and financial rights of the relevant parties.

It is worth mentioning that “Wafi” provides a number of licenses for off-plan sales projects, and monitors their completion rates and the quality of their implementation, in addition to motivating and qualifying real estate developers to create distinguished and integrated projects that meet the aspirations of the real estate market. “Wafi” grants off-plan sales licenses for all residential, commercial, industrial and other real estate projects; to enhance the supply of real estate units, and to contribute to increasing the rate of homeownership for Saudi families in line with the objectives of the Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 -.
