The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the issuance of an updated list of requirements for transportation rental offices and vehicle parking centers, as part of its strategic efforts to regulate this vital activity and stimulate investment in it, in order to contribute to the development of the urban landscape and improve the quality of life in Saudi cities.
The updated requirements cover sites designated for renting land, sea and air transport, including rental offices, accommodation centers and their facilities, and were prepared in accordance with best international practices and in coordination with relevant authorities, to ensure a balance between the requirements of investors and the rights of beneficiaries, taking into account planning, architectural, technical and operational aspects.
The new requirements include precise controls relating to activity locations, architectural design standards, facade requirements, and parking spaces, in addition to public safety, hygiene and maintenance requirements, requirements for people with disabilities, compliance with the Saudi Building Code, the Fire Protection Code and all related regulations. They also include regulating additional and similar activities, providing electronic payment methods, installing surveillance cameras, and placing clear and updated internal signs.
This update comes as an extension of the Ministry’s efforts to consolidate the culture of compliance and facilitate compliance procedures through modern technological tools such as the “Baladi” platform, which contributes to creating an integrated urban environment that reduces the manifestations of visual distortion, limits traffic congestion, and raises the efficiency of the use of public facilities.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing affirmed that compliance with the updated requirements opens up broad horizons for investors to build facilities that keep pace with the developmental transformations taking place in the Kingdom, and to provide high-quality services that enhance market competitiveness, contribute to improving the experience of beneficiaries, and support the local economy.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has updated a set of municipal requirements for various commercial and service activities during the past period, with the aim of raising the efficiency of the infrastructure, enhancing the safety of buildings and facilities, improving the urban landscape, providing a safe and healthy environment, facilitating business practices, and enabling investors to provide high-quality services that meet the aspirations of society and contribute to supporting the national economy.
