The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announcedRegarding updating the municipal requirements for professional workshop activities, with the aim of regulating them to meet the needs of citizens and improve the quality of services provided in a sound manner that is consistent with global safety rules, provided that the application of the requirements is limited to the activity of repair and maintenance only, and does not include the activities of selling and marketing materials and products.
The updated requirements included spatial requirements, which include the site and its development requirements, facades and the general appearance of the business, in addition to structural requirements, which include the floor surface, internal walls, ceilings, stairs, external sidewalks, the ramp for people with disabilities, ventilation and air conditioning, lighting equipment and electrical wiring.
The requirements for fire protection include compliance with the requirements of the Saudi Fire Protection Code, while waste control, site cleanliness and requirements for workers fall under the health operational requirements.
The technical operational requirements included general operating requirements, maintenance, and operating requirements specific to the maintenance of electronic devices, installations, display units, and internal workshop panels.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing explained that the amendments to the municipal requirements for a number of professional workshop activities came in accordance with the progress and development witnessed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the Saudi Vision 2030, and in view of their being among the necessary needs of citizens, as the amendments are in accordance with the standards applied globally.
