His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, received His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, at the interactive center in Al-Jawan suburb, which is being developed by the National Housing Company (NHC) north of Riyadh, to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation in serving the housing and industry sectors.
The visit comes as an extension of the effective partnership between government agencies under the umbrella of the Housing Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 - to provide diverse housing solutions for Saudi families, with the aim of increasing the rate of homeownership.
The two sides reviewed the achievements of the first phase of the Modern Building Methods Initiative, which saw the signing of 19 financing contracts worth more than one billion riyals, the qualification of 60 contractors to use technologies in projects, in addition to the signing of 96 memoranda of understanding between contractors and building technology providers.
They pointed out that the expansion in increasing the production of factories specializing in modern building methods has contributed to making available 40,000 housing units annually, and raising the percentage of reliance on modern building methods to 60% within the projects of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing in partnership with the private sector, noting that the future direction of the initiative is to build 40% of the new units with modern technologies by the year 2025.
They discussed the initiative’s aim to enhance the productivity of modern construction methods to increase their competitiveness, in addition to creating an enabling and attractive environment in the sector. They praised the efforts made within the housing system to provide diverse housing options for Saudi families within an effective partnership with the private sector, including financing entities and real estate development companies.
For his part, the CEO of the National Housing Company (NHC), Engineer Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Bati, gave a visual presentation on the company’s efforts in cooperation with real estate developers to enhance the local content ratio in housing projects, which exceeded 93%, and the role of the effective partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in localizing and raising the capabilities of local factories to increase the supply of residential real estate and provide it at reasonable prices.
His Excellency accompanied the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources on an inspection visit to the Al-Jawan residential suburb projects located north of Riyadh, on an area exceeding 30 million square meters, providing more than 73,000 units within a fully serviced residential environment that provides a quality of life.
