The National Program for the Development of Group Housing for Individuals called on owners of group housing and business owners to comply with what is stated in the guide to health requirements for group housing for individuals issued by the Public Health Authority “Weqaya”, which reviews the health requirements for all types of group housing, whether inside or outside the urban area. The guide also includes important information for companies and individuals on how to assess the quality of housing and manage workers’ housing.

The guide aims to ensure that all types of group housing for individuals are healthy, free from diseases and epidemics, and safe to live in, in accordance with the health conditions approved by the government agencies supervising the inspection of workers’ housing – whether rented or owned – and to provide all the conditions approved by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing to obtain the required licenses for workers’ housing.

The guide offers a number of preventive, guidance, and awareness tips and procedures to improve the health situation in shared accommodation for individuals, and to promote occupational health and safety in shared accommodation. It is designed to be a guiding reference for managers, supervisors, owners, residents, and everyone involved in the implementation and management of shared accommodation.

The guide is based on a risk management approach to collective workers' housing and safety, which is a consultative process to identify, assess and control risks as much as possible, to manage risks according to the diversity of collective housing designs, in addition to presenting standards and requirements for building collective housing, including available transportation systems, public living facilities, facilities (rooms/dormitories), health facilities, cooking facilities, food safety, medical facilities and social and recreational facilities. The file of the guide to preventive procedures and awareness guidelines for improving collective housing for individuals can be viewed through the link https://balady.gov.sa/Services/DownloadUserGuide/683 .

It is worth mentioning that the National Program for the Development of Group Housing for Individuals, whose board of directors is chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing and includes 10 government agencies as members, aims to improve the group housing system for individuals and provide a suitable housing environment for workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to achieve the Quality of Life Program - one of the programs of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 -.
