Sustainable Building Program: More than 1,650 residential and commercial buildings have undergone sustainability assessments.

“Sustainable Construction” participated in the fifth edition of the Future Projects Forum, organized by the Saudi Contractors Authority during May 22-23, 2023 in Riyadh, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, and in the presence of a number of governmental and private entities, contractors, developers, suppliers, factories, financing bodies, engineering companies, consulting companies, logistics services, and interested parties; to learn about the projects and future opportunities presented at the forum, and to meet with decision-makers in the sector, to build new partnerships, and deepen integration and coordination between project owners, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and other stakeholders .

The participation of “Sustainable Building” came within the framework of introducing its most important outputs, which is the (Sustainability Assessment) service, and its contribution to achieving sustainability standards in buildings and communities; to raise the efficiency of energy and water consumption, and improve the quality of life in housing projects, as the sustainability assessment work - which it provided to 21 major national projects, and in which it obtained various levels of classification - included more than 1650 residential and commercial buildings, on areas exceeding 1.3 million m2, and 18 neighborhood communities with areas reaching 21 million m2, and more than 2 million m2 of green spaces, and safe bicycle and pedestrian paths exceeding 7 kilometers; to provide facilities to encourage the practice of sports .

During its participation, “Sustainable Building” emphasized that the level of competitiveness for obtaining sustainability assessment certificates with their various classifications is high and is done according to global standards, stressing that the assessment elements are highly efficient and consistent with the Saudi Building Code, which contributes to raising the operational efficiency of buildings, reducing carbon emissions, preserving the environment and its resources, reducing water waste, improving human health, and its health impact on climate change .

“Sustainable building” highlighted sustainability rating systems, namely: design and construction; this applies to the development of new buildings or communities, and the operation of existing buildings; it can be applied to newly constructed buildings or old occupied buildings .

It is worth mentioning that the (Sustainability Assessment) service is based on 3 basic pillars, which are (the environment, the economy, and society); in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment, promote economic growth, and provide a better daily life for all .
