The Ministry of Municipality and Housing launches a training program in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme.

"البلدية والإسكان" تطلق برنامجاً تدريبياً بالتعاون مع برنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing launched a program to train its employees in urban efficiency and productivity in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme ( UNDP ), with the participation of a select group of trainees from all municipalities, regional development authorities and royal commissions in the Kingdom, at the Le Méridien Hotel in Riyadh.

Dr. Adel bin Bakheet Al-Zahrani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing for Urban Planning and Lands, explained that the program aims to raise the skills of workers in the field of urban and regional planning and raise the quality of public and private sector projects in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. He pointed out that a number of experts in urban planning, economics and city management will be hosted to review leading global experiences, in addition to hosting local experts from the secretaries of some regions and international experts to transfer successful experiences in the field of diversifying the economic base in Saudi cities and reviewing the most prominent challenges.

He added: “The training program extends for three weeks, where the first week will focus on urban management and city management skills, the second week includes a number of topics related to the urban economy and diversifying the economic base, and the third week deals with topics of diversifying project financing mechanisms that contribute to the prosperity of cities, in line with the objectives of the Ministry’s Agency for Urban Planning aimed at raising the quality of life in cities and their sustainability, noting that the Urban Competence and Productivity Training Program is one of the unique programs at the level of the Kingdom.”

Al-Zahrani affirmed that the ministry is continuously working to support the comprehensive urban renaissance and respond to the aspirations of residents of Saudi cities in the field of improving the urban environment, achieving urban sustainability, preserving cultural identity and humanizing cities, in addition to improving the quality of services provided, and creating efficiency and developmental balance for the various regions of the Kingdom within the framework of sustainable urban, social and economic development.
