The Rental Index released its first report for February 2022 on the cities with the highest number of rental transactions, based on rental contracts documented on the electronic rental services network.

Riyadh topped the rental index report as the city with the most recorded rental transactions, with a percentage exceeding 32% of the total transactions, followed by Jeddah with 25%, while Makkah and Dammam came with 6% each, then Madinah with 5% and finally Al-Khobar with 4%.

These deals were based on residential and commercial lease contracts concluded during February and documented in the Ejar network, distributed among the six cities included in the first phase of the rental index, namely (Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, Dammam, and Khobar), as the total number of commercial and residential contracts amounted to more than 146,000 documented contracts during February.

The rental index, launched by His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, at the beginning of this month, aims to increase transparency and stimulate investment in the rental real estate sector in the Kingdom, by setting specific rental indicators for cities, neighborhoods and different types of real estate, both residential and commercial.

The service enables the beneficiary to identify the residential index for average rental prices, including types of residential units (apartment, villa, and floor), or (shop, showroom, and office) in the commercial index for average prices per meter in commercial units, to reach more accurate results in search and selection processes.

The launch of the service in its first phase included a number of cities, where an average rental price for residential units in the neighborhoods of these cities will be set, in addition to setting an average metric price for commercial units in the neighborhoods, which increases the transparency of prices and contracts concluded in the rental sector.

These indicators also aim to enable the beneficiary to search for the appropriate option that suits his needs and to facilitate search operations within the cities and neighborhoods covered by the “Rental Index” service during periods specified by the beneficiary, using interactive maps. The service can be accessed through the “Sakani” platform via the link https://sakani.sa/reports-and-data .
